I am now officially a published author! From the Ashes went “live” on Amazon.com’s Kindle book store at a little before three a.m. this morning. I sat staring at the page for several seconds, clapping with glee. No, not at three a.m. If I’d still been up at that time of morning, I doubt I’d have had the energy or mental capacity to do anything with glee.
It has taken so long to get to this moment that it almost doesn’t seem real. In a way, I suppose you could say that I’ve been a published author since 1998, when I put my first fan fiction story online, but, of course, that isn’t quite the same thing.
I’ve made the introductory price $0.99. Sure, that means I’ll only make $0.35 per sale on Amazon.com, but since I’m a new author there, I think it’s wise to start out low. Also, this not being a long novel, I don’t think the price should be high. I’ll probably never go over $1.99 on it – unless it becomes wildly popular. Hey, a girl can dream, can’t she? 😀
Now comes the task of marketing. Since I have no spare money to speak of, I’ll be relying on free and very cheap advertising venues. Once I let my faithful fan fiction readers know about this, I’m hoping that some of them will go out and buy it. Isn’t it cool that I already have a “fan base”? Being a fan fiction writer most definitely has its advantages.
Well, that’s it for this post. I am going to be a busy, busy girl over the next few days getting the word out. Below is the link to the book on Amazon.com. I’ll be making it available for sale on this site sometime this week. I’d hoped to do it today, but it’s going to take PayPal a couple of days to switch my account to the option that will have smaller transaction fees. Keep checking the Books page for the Buy Now button.
Even if you don’t have a Kindle, you can still buy the book on Amazon.com and view it with Kindle for PC, Kindle for Mac, or an app for your tablet or smartphone.
